Solihull Station
Working with Mott MacDonald as lead consultant, Hawkins\Brown were commissioned by Solihull Council and Transport for West Midlands to develop designs for a new station and transport interchange to respond to the needs of the developing town centre and utilisation of the station land and assets. The designs were developed to create a new welcoming station whilst also establishing stronger pedestrian links to the city centre. The new station also incorporates much improved facilities with regards to retail and places to eat and dwell. The new station building was designed using timber as its primary structure and was recognised as being one of first Carbon zero rail assets to be developed in the UK. A new public transport interchange was created to promote the use of buses and cycles .
