Design Advisory

High Speed 2

I have been a member of the Hs2 independent design review panel for over six years, reviewing the designs of over £15 billion of worth of rail infrastructure. This included helping to inform and shape the design of five stations, tunnels, bridges and operational head houses. I have been involved in the design of Euston station and, oversite development and interchange in collaboration with Camden Council, which aims to create one of Europe’s largest transit orientated developments and one of London’s largest Terminus stations.

Other structures that required design consideration were operational buildings such as the Washwood Heath Depot, Birmingham. This was designed to maintain rolling stock and provide training to Hs2 operatives. The design of the depot had to be developed to be integrated into the industrial site situated between highway infrastructure and the neighbouring community living in Washwood Heath. The project has been developed with an aim provide employment for the local communities.

“Having worked with Harbinder on several design panel, I have come to rely on his sharp and insightful understanding of architectural design and the context in which it sits. His knowledge reflects his experience in practice at the highest level.”
