Ealing Council

I am a member of the Ealing Design review panel, coordinated by Frame-Projects which aims to improve the design of the development schemes that have been proposed since the arrival of the Elizabeth line. The new line has put greater demands on the need for homes and amenities within Ealing, and I have reviewed the designs for over 10,000 homes many of which comprise of high-rise developments situated adjacent to Elizabeth line stations in West Ealing and Southall.

At West Ealing I have reviewed proposals for one of John Lewis’ first developments. Here proposals for an existing Waitrose supermarket have been submitted to be redeveloped into a new supermarket, public realm, and homes for the rental market. Ealing has an aspiration to create sustainable mixed-use developments in all seven of its towns, prioritising the design of affordable homes and the creation of good quality work spaces that allow people to live and work locally. The image illustrated is that of Pitzhanger Manor House and Gallery, one of only two Grade 1 listed buildings in Ealing that was designed by Sir John Soane in 1800; his then country home.
