Pitzhanger Manor Gallery
From 2017 – 2022 I held the position as a Board member and Trustee of Pitzhanger Manor House and Gallery situated in Ealing, London. Designed by Sir John Soane in 1800 and used as his country retreat, Ealing Council commissioned major works to reinstate the house to its original design, from 200 years ago. The project was funded by the Art Council.
Being one of only 2 grade 1 listed structures in the borough, I was responsible for the upkeep and renewal of the estate. In 2019 I led the commission and procurement to gain services for the design and construction of volunteers’ centre for the Home. I led the commission to appoint Jo Townsend Architects and Webb Yates Engineers who designed a sensitive insertion to the existing Georgian Lodge Yard. The building constructed using lightweight sustainable materials such laser cut laminated timber sat lightly on the existing footings.
“As a trustee for Pitzhanger Manor and Gallery Trust Harbinder guided the client body on the development and articulation of an ambitious but workable brief and ensured that the project remained both ambitious and deliverable throughout. He was particularly invaluable in bringing together an exciting and collaborative design team.”
